With the summer now upon us its time to reach out for those products that give us an instant glowing tan to make the transition from our pastey winter skin to our glowing summer one. I get asked a lot about what products are best for tanning the face and body and recently I discovered a new little gem that most definitely captured my attention. 
As you will know if you are a regular KELLiLASH reader that my holy grail self tan for body is Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan (dark) and I have gone through countless bottles as it is the most hassle free, beautiful, sun kissed tan that shows no signs that it's not real. It has no 'biscuit' self tan smell and develops in an hour - hence why its my holy grail. 

Now I fly back and forth from countries quite a lot and on each flight I take I always have to glance over the duty free shopping brochure in the beauty section even though I rarely buy anything because as I tend to own most of it (oooops) but there was a product that caught my attention right away .... the James Read Sleep Tan Mask. The name alone sold me as I thought "hold on, a face mask that tans and all whilst I am asleep?!" Sold. Whats not to like already.

So what was it that I bought? I had never heard of James Read products bizarrely enough previous to buying this but the products and the sleek stylish packaging alone impressed me. James Read is the UK's leading self tanning expert and with all his years experience in the industry he has come up with a range of tanning products to enable a professional looking tan at home. SLEEP MASK TAN "Tan and treat the skin while you sleep" - This is a soothing gel that is enriched with skincare ingredients to deliver a subtle, golden glow by morning. The gel itself is colourless to protect clothing and linen and suits all skin tones. 

How to Use - Just apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin on the face and neck then wash hands afterwards! It is so lightweight it can also be applied in the morning aswell as at night to build a healthy glow throughout the day. Only a small amount of this is needed so go easy when you pump it out!

As you can see from the photos above the formulation is a clear, light gel thats super easy to blend into the skin, non sticky and thankfully has no nasty self tan smell! Its main skincare ingredients are Aloe Vera and Cucumber to soothe, repair and calm the skin, Hyaluronic Acid and Red Algae to aid skin moisture along with its gentle tanning ingredients that ensure a very natural subtle glow.

My Verdict? ...

I woke the next morning and my skin looked and felt really smooth, hydrated and gently sun kissed. Just be aware that the self tan result itself is very subtle so you won't wake up looking like you have been sat on a beach all week but just gained a very subtle glow. If you find that fake tans irritate and break your skin out by making it go all bumpy by blocking up those pores, then this is the ideal product for you. This is a super gentle skincare treatment as opposed to just a facial tanner which makes it a fantastic multi-tasking skin treat that suits any skin type and is totally unisex, so keep it in the bathroom to share!

I really love this product as like I said its very gentle and does what it says on the tin. I would use this once a week alongside my usual face mask of choice as its nothing heavy duty but adds some extra moisture and calming benefits into my skincare routine, oh and gives me that lovely sun kissed glow of course. 

I feel this is a real cult product as I have never seen anything that works like this before as I have used self tans that are facial moisturisers but never one that is a face mask, so it really is one of a kind. A very good British Airways duty free purchase! I am really keen to see what else is in the line and have a try out.
