MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

Looking for a new under eye concealer to banish those dark circles? Well MAC have just the thing with PRO LONGWEAR CONCEALER.

Whilst recently shopping at the airport on my way back from the UK, I needed to grab an under eye concealer and fancied trying out something new. I asked on counter what concealers they had and was advised to go with Pro Longwear Concealer. I love MAC cosmetics for their colour i.e. eyeshadows, blush, highlighters, lipgloss and especially their lipsticks as they are my ultimate favourite but I have never been excited by their base make up, until now.

What is MAC pro long wear concealer?
"A lightweight fluid concealer that provides medium to full coverage with a  comfortable natural matte finish. The colour-true formula lasts up to 15 hours and is available on 15 shades. It helps conceal and correct the look of under eye circles and discolourations. Comes in a clear glass vial with a matte black pump".

This does exactly as the description states and can be used all over the face as well as under the eyes so an all round concealer.

I have the shade NW15 which matches the tone under my eyes perfectly, just being a little lighter than my skin tone and to highlight the eye area. I do suggest you go to a MAC counter to get colour matched if your new to MAC as you want to get the shade for under the eyes exact.

Application - The only 'small' downfall is with the packaging and the pump nozzle as you get a lot of product out from just one pump and you can end up wasting a lot of product as please note: you only need a small amount. Try (if you can) to control the pump to get as little out as possible, but it is tricky. The main reasons companies do use pumps is just for good hygiene.

I pump a small amount onto the back of my hand, then use a concealer brush or beauty blender to blend and buff this under my eye, then using my ring finger to gently melt it into the skin. I then finish off by setting with a little translucent powder. With the concealer left on my hand, I then use on the rest of the face on areas I want to 'highlight' like tops of the cheeks, brow bone, nose .... this works perfectly for the famous 'Kim Kardashian' highlight/contouring trick and dont be afraid to be quite generous with this product as you need to be to get that highlight going on.

The concealer blends beautifully into the skin but it can set quite quickly so make sure you work with it straight away once applied. You can see from my photos that it really does smooth and blur fine lines, hence demonstrating on my hand where I have many fine lines from all my cinderella duties.

You'll find dark circles are no more and the skin looks smoother and line free as even though this is a matte finish, this does not dry into those fine lines or look dry like many other thicker concealers, it just has the ability to make you look fresh and like you have had a full 8 hours sleep!

To be fair my dark circles are not too bad as I have used an eye cream religiously now since I was about 17 years old (started early!) but for those days when I haven't had a full nights sleep this is my little saviour.

I have often found with some other high end and lower end concealers you need to touch them up throughout the day as you start to lose that brightness around the eye but this one stays put all day long without the need to reapply at any point but still looking fresh like you have only just done your make-up. It shall last until you cleanse and remove all of you make-up which can be a full day like it claims. Is that not what we all want from a concealer? I know I do.

So long dark circles! This is seriously impressive stuff and ticks all the boxes for me. I cannot say enough good things about this product as not only does it win in the performance and quality stakes but for the price of only £14.50/€17/$18 for 9ml you know this shall last a very long time so value for money, tick.

Available online here with UK & International delivery options and from all MAC Counters.

  1. This was very helpful, thanks! :) Unfortunately NC15 is sold out everywhere right now... I don't really know about getting NC20 though, because my skin color doesn't change that much in the summer. Have you ever tried mixing two NC / two NW shades? I'm thinking about getting NC15 and NC20, that way I could adjust the shade throughout the summer... We'll see :)

    1. Thank you! I hope you manage to get hold of NC15, If you dont change skin tone then I would just stick to using your NC15 as you need it a tone lighter for under eyes anyhow to highlight the area. Mixing shades is good as I do that with my foundation when I just need a touch of a darker shade but this product dries so fast you need to work quick! Glad you like this as much as me ;-) K xx

  2. Go to the MAC counter and get an empty sample jar. Just pump the product into the jar. That way, you can grab the right amount you need with a brush from the jar, and replace the lid to save any amount that’s left over for later. After finishing whatever’s in the jar, add another pump, and repeat.
