Lancôme is a brand that I have grown up with as it always features somewhere in my daily makeup routine but I realised that I haven't really featured much here on the blog which doesn't mean that I love it any less over other brands, it's just always there which makes it an obvious to me but maybe not to you. I have recently discovered a few new Lancôme loves which I thought would be great to share as I think you could love them or want to know a little more about them also.
I am a huge Lancôme lip product and mascara fan. I still think their mascaras are unbeatable and as much as I cheat on them with other brands, I alway come back to them at some point and then I wonder why I ever left. We all know that feeling of finding a really good mascara - you simply want to stock up for life because if your lashes are looking good and happy, then so are you in my book.

One thing I have struggled with however is Lancôme foundations. They are one thing that I have never really found myself gravitating to until last year when I tried the highly coveted Teint Idole Cushion Foundation and although I adored the finish and texture, it was a no no as my skin broke out no end so I have stuck with Lancôme for lips and eyes. That was until I recently tried the latest Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation and I have now found my Lancôme foundation fit as well as a new mascara, Monsiuer BIG, so let me share and tell you some more ...

Monsieur BIG Mascara, £21 (buy here!)
This is a Volumising Mascara that promises 12 x more volume and thicker looking lashes with a smudge resistant formula. Big promises!

Being the mascara addict that I am, out of the two items kindly sent over from one of my favourite Beauty StoresHouse of Fraser Beauty to try out so I instantly broke open the Monsieur BIG Mascara as I needed to see just how good this was; good because this is a Lancôme mascara after all.

Firstly, let's discuss the brush. I feel we all have a type when it comes to a mascara wand. I personally prefer a rubber wand or a medium sized bristle wand that is tapered to get to all the smaller lashes. Monsiuer BIG is a really good sized 'big yet not too big' soft brush that gives your lashes great separation and lift whilst coating them in a soft feel formula hence your lashes stay feeling natural and not hard or packed full of mascara. This is what I love. I wear contact lenses and having sensitive eyes it doesn't aggravate or interfere at all which I think comes down to the fact that it really doesn't flake or move. It didn't clump even after applying a second/third coat and my lashes looked very volumised yet still very much defined. I love how black this mascara is because it adds more intensity to your lashes so is definitely one for those who love lashes and not really for those who are wanting a natural look.

It actually reminds me a little of the new L'Oreal Paradise Exactic (here!) which I love and not usually being a drugstore mascara fan I was surprised by how good this one is - so if the Monsieur BIG is a little to pricey for you then give that one a go. It will dry up a little quicker than this one but both are worth the buy.

I do recommend trying Monsieur BIG if you are wanting super volumised lashes that still feel like yours. I do love this new one but my favourite still has to be Lancôme Grandiose (here!) because the unique swan neck gets every single lash and just makes mine look much longer, thicker and so defined which is how I like them. Either way you can't go too wrong with either one.

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear 24 Hour Foundation SPF15 30ml, £31 (buy here!
This is Lancôme's best selling foundation designed to give you your perfect shade match as it is now available in 40 shades! A liquid foundation that is very long lasting with a high coverage that doesn't feel caked on, just comfortable and skin like. The smudge proof formula has been designed to last all day and night so no touch ups are needed and there is now worry of transfer onto clothing. Plus it has SPF15 so a great daily protection.

Let's start by saying that visually, this is beautiful. The bottle, the luxe feel - high quality is all there. Like I mentioned before, not having found a Lancôme base that suited me I went into testing this one out with no expectations and you know what, I really, really like it. I always opt for a liquid texture as opposed to a cream or stick as they suit my skin better and this formula glided over my skin effortlessly. The texture felt very much like my holy grail Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation (here!) which has been my no1 for many years now so this really excited me. I could feel it starting to dry very quickly and turn matte so I had to move fast but it blended so easily that it literally took seconds to do.

Verdict ...
It actually smells incredible, if scents are your thing, you shall adore the comforting fresh scent this foundation has to it. Being a velvet-matte finish it did start to feel drying on my skin as it wore so I found to help combat this issue, using a really hydrating/radiance primer underneath or mixed in (Burberry Nude Glow & Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow work a treat!) made the foundation sit a lot more comfortably on my normal/combination skin. So if you have skin like me or are dry then I would highly recommend doing this prep step to combat any dry feeling but more oilier skins shall adore the finish regardless.

In my opinion, this is definitely more of a medium than full coverage which pleased me as I am not a full coverage fan these days, yet it felt like I was wearing a really light base, another big tick in the box. It gives a lovely velvety matte finish which looks flawless on the skin without sitting in pores or lines making this in my opinion a great one for all ages and all skin types. It covers brilliantly well so you may find you won't need to conceal very much because the coverage is that good. I did also notice how beautifully this photographed as I was editing some make-up looks and was so impressed at how flawwwww-less my skin looked close up. It wears amazingly well on the skin as I didn't need to touch up all day and it still looked the same come the evening.

The only fault, which was entirely my own doing, was that I (blind) chose the wrong colour. Shade 02 is a little too pink on my skin as you can see below from the swatches (next to my usual foundation shades) but I am making it work with a little mixing because I love it that much. Having 39 other shades to choose from in the range, I am sure to get my perfect match.

Round Up ...
I can see why people have named this a miracle foundation because it really does work and give great lasting coverage. Teint Idole Ultra Wear applies like a dream to give a medium coverage with a beautiful velvet matte finish that really shall last all day/night without the need for touch ups. Most importantly it leaves your skin looking flawless yet still feeling and looking natural and doesn't sit in pores or oily/dry patches. A beautiful foundation for all skins and all ages so I highly recommend trying as this will be the one foundation to convert you to Lancôme. It is also available in a new cream stick version too should you prefer but either way, add this to your wish list.
